The Blended TRUTH

April 8, 2019

I know Will and Jada & Swiss and Alicia, have y’all thinking that being a blended family means that you are having Thanksgiving dinners together and traveling to exotic locations as a collective.

But unfortunately, that’s not the truth for most blended family situations.

Don’t get me wrong that would be nice, but the truth is that blended families can be really tough, and while family vacations and dinners are nice —

The key components to a successful blended family are respect and communication.

Blended families are only as hard as the adults make them.

IF the adults demonstrate respect, THEN the kids will follow suit.

Most often in blended families, you have adults who are extremely selfish and typically have a negative impact on the kids.

Let’s take rapper, Future for instance.

Ok so boom,

Future and Ciara have a child together…

they break-up for whatever reason.

Ciara moves on and falls in love with Russell Wilson,

they get married and have a kid of their own.

Russell now (and even when they were dating) does father/son stuff with little Future, and a lot of people vocally believe he is over-stepping his bounds.

I never understood the naysayers of Russell and Baby Future’s relationship.

As a parent (in this case, Future), if I am no longer in the household with my child, would it not then be most beneficial to have my child in an environment where someone (who he is not biologically-related to) treats them like their own??

But instead, Future is salty *allegedly*

I would venture to say that the reason that Future is salty is only that he hasn’t made enough of an impression on Baby Future, so he feels replaceable.

Because for me —

I would never be intimated by another woman loving my children as her own.

I would welcome it.

You know why?

Because it truly takes a village to raise a whole & healthy child.

It would be so dope for someone to be in the lives of my children —

going just as hard for them as I do.

Some say for dads it’s different.

I call bullshit.

It’s only different when pride and ego can’t be put aside.

Listen —

Blend your family how you choose,

but πŸ‘πŸΎ put πŸ‘πŸΎ the πŸ‘πŸΎ children πŸ‘πŸΎfirst.

Not your need to get even.

When this happens, more blended family situations could have the potential for Alicia Keys & Swiss Beatz types of vibes, which seems to be much better for the Future.

And that’s just the blended TRUTH.

  1. Blended truth – u r right, once you are a parent everything is second to your child because the baby you made is your number one responsibility! Child’s well-being must come before anything. If you can’t do that, do not make babies.
